About Me

Welcome to 1 House, 3 Cats.

My name is Cindy and I live in northeastern Wisconsin with my wonderful husband and our three  five cats.  (I didn't intend to get more but they're like Pokemon.)  I work a day job but my schedule allows me to have seven out of fourteen days off so I have plenty of time to read.  Besides reading, I also hunt, hike, knit, sew, and attempt to cook.   On my weekends off, my husband and I try to go to area attractions.  We also support local teams (the Packers, the Badgers, the Wisconsin Timber-Rattlers, and the Green Bay Gamblers) and try to go to games as often as possible.

I have always loved to read and as a child, would read anything I could get my hands on, including Harlequin romance novels.  Thank goodness I had no idea what they were really about.  I have a small library in my home and luckily, I married a man who's house had built-in bookshelves.  I try to limit buying books because we don't have much room.  I am a huge supporter of my local library, which is part of an awesome library system that carries just about everything I could ever want to read.

As for what I read, it really is a strange collection.  I love literary fiction and historical fiction.  I also like memoirs and biographies.  I'm not afraid to admit that I still read cheesy romance novels and love to read chick lit.  I'll even bother to pick up some nonfiction if the subject sparks my interest.  A lot of times, I'll come across a snippet online which will cause me to seek out books on that subject.

I wish I could say that I have one or two favorite books or authors.  As I've honed my reading preferences over the years, I am now more likely to pick out books I will really like.  I'm not afraid to stop reading a book if it bores me to tears or if the subject matter is not to my liking.  I used to feel like I had to finish a book even if it took me months to slog through it.

I loved the Harry Potter series, Gone with the Wind, The Little Prince, and books by Neil Gaiman, Marian Keyes, Emily Giffin, and Sophie Kinsella.

And of course, the title wouldn't be very apt if I didn't show you my feline family members. Well, just two of them.  I couldn't find a picture of the third one, Boots, because all she does is lay under our bed and snore.

We added two new additions to bring our grand total of kiddens to five.  And yes, I did refer to them as kiddens.  I am the crazy cat lady you are afraid of becoming.
